Discovering Healing Through Kid Reiki Level 1 & 2

This weekend I took a Kid Reiki Level 1 & 2 class. Going into it, I wasn’t totally sure what to expect, but it ended up being one of those experiences that sticks with you.

Most of us think about Reiki as something for adults. What this class really drove home for me is that it reaches further back than that. A lot of what we deal with now has roots in earlier parts of life, whether we recognize it or not.

We spent time discussing childhood experiences such as shame, fear, and the emotions we often carry longer than we should. The conversation wasn’t overwhelming, but it was honest. Through reflection, meditation, and Reiki, we were able to explore those experiences without overanalyzing them.

The whole “inner child” idea can feel a little out there at first, but it started to make sense in a practical way. It’s really just about recognizing that some parts of us haven’t fully let go of old experiences and giving that space to shift. Reiki helps with that in a natural way. No forcing anything, no trying to fix everything all at once. Just letting things settle and move.

We also talked a lot about how Reiki can help kids directly. Kids pick up on more than we sometimes realize. Stress, tension, emotions, they feel it. Reiki gives them a way to calm down, to feel a little more steady and safe.

And it’s simple.

It doesn’t take long sessions or anything complicated. Sometimes it’s just being present, a light touch, or a few focused minutes. Done consistently, that can go a long way.

For me, the biggest takeaway was a reminder: healing doesn’t have to be complicated. We tend to overthink it, but a lot of the time it comes back to slowing down, being present, and creating the right kind of space.

As a Reiki Master Teacher, I’m always looking to keep learning and see things from a different angle. This class brought me back to the basics in a good way through connection, honesty, and just showing up, both for yourself and for others.

In a few months, I’ll be taking the next step and completing the training to teach this course myself. I’m really looking forward to that opportunity and being able to share this work in a way that supports both kids and families.

If you’ve ever thought about Reiki for your kids or your family, it’s worth a look. It’s simple, it’s practical, and it fits into real life.

I’m glad I did this training. It gave me a different perspective, and I’m looking forward to putting it to use.
